Christmas Cheer

We are accepting donations of new coats, mittens, hats, socks, scarves, toys and books at our 650 Vance Street location between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday (except Thanksgiving). No bikes this year because we just don’t have room. On behalf of the people we serve, thank you

Making me smile

Love in action at the bowling alley, Saturday, September 24, as people gathered to support Martin Luther King Kitchen for the Poor. Sponsors, helpers and bowlers united to make a difference for the hungry in central Toledo.

Great writing for a great cause

MLK Kitchen for the Poor does wonderful work in the world, as does The Blade’s Mary Bilyeu, who recently had lunch there and wrote about it.

Doing good work in central Toledo

Pope Francis quoted MLK, Jr., today, during his speech to the U.S. Congress. Made me think of Martin Luther King Kitchen for the Poor and the good work its good people have been doing since 1969: feeding the hungry.

A Christmas hint

If you’re looking for a solid organization to help out this Christmas and you’ve stumbled upon my humble blog, maybe you’ll consider making a gift to MLK Kitchen for the Poor in Toledo, Ohio. They’ve been feeding the hungry since 1969 — without flash, without calling attention to themselves. They’re just doing the work. And, they can always use help.
