The Hermitage

My favorite book written by a Russian: The Brothers Karamazov. I guess seeing Putin and Russia on the news so much these days has me thinking more about my graduate field of study.

Remembering when I went into the Hermitage and left 30 minutes later. My senses had simply been overloaded — and I’d had to leave.

Remembering the gypsy children dancing around the square in Moscow.

Remembering the man with the bumps all over his head who didn’t want me to stop and talk with him.

“Putin is KGB,” said one of the Russian women at the pool last week.

We do live in interesting times.
