Blue Jasmine

Cate Blanchett is her usual brilliant self in the just-released Blue Jasmine. Sally Hawkins, as well. Alec Baldwin seems to be playing just himself and does a good-enough job at it. The film’s theme is over-identification, in this case with money and the power one perceives comes from having it. Sad. Disturbing. Real. Amazing, powerful performance by Blanchett makes it a must-see, in my book.

And, by the way, Woody Allen is still a creditable director. And, the dialogue in this one won’t remind you of his other films.
