Let’s get it moving

President Obama will give another speech tonight about the economy. I’m hoping he strikes a positive chord here. A big part of the problem is that people are not at all hopeful about the economic future of this country. A huge part of the solution is changing that up.

I love this poem by Emily Dickinson:

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune–without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I’ve heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

  1. Thanks for the poem. It brought tears to my eyes. One of my sisters had that poem on her kitchen wall when another sister was seriously ill. Our bird still sings. Therese

  2. This country will not right itself until people such as Obama quit pushing for intrinsic evils such as abortion, contraception, and the legitimization of homosexual practices. And doing this with money we don’t have and spreading to countries that don’t want it.
    Beyond that, socialism is only a good idea until it runs out of other people’s money.
